Charlie Murphy, Eddie Murphy’s older brother, and a successful comedian actor has passed away at age 57.

The news first broke at TMZ that Murphy had died from Leukemia Wednesday morning in a hospital in New York City. Murphy was doing chemotherapy, and his Family members believed his health was getting better before learning of his death, according to the report.

Charlie Murphy co-starred on the highly successful Chappelle’s Show in some of Dave Chappelle’s best skits. Most memorable skits included Charlie Murphy’s True Hollywood Stories, where Charlie would tell the story of the nights he partied with musicians Rick James and Prince. Both skits were some of the best moments in Chappelle’s Show successful run.

Charlie Murphy also had roles in movies such as; Are We There Yet?, Norbit, CB4 and most recently Meet The Blacks. Charlie Murphy also played the returning character Ed Wuncler III in the TV animated series The Boondocks.

Charlie Murphy is survived by his three children.

He will be greatly missed.
