Here’s how I’m going to beat you. I’m going to outwork you. That’s it. That’s all there is to it.” – Pat Summit (June 14th, 1952 – June 28th, 2016)
It is with a heavy heart that I tell you: legendary Tennessee Volunteers’ coach Pat Summitt has passed away five years after being diagnosed with Alzheimer’s Disease.

Summit left a legacy unlike any other women’s basketball coach. She ended her career with eight national titles and 1,098 games won, which is the most by any Division 1 basketball coach, male or female. She left behind her not only one a monumental impact on female college sports, but also her son, Tyler Summitt.

Peyton Manning, a Tennessee alumni, was quoted on SportsCenter: “Pat meant a great deal to me. It’s obviously a very sad day for the Tennessee family, for everyone who ever came into contact with Pat Summitt and felt the impact she had on them. Pat was a great friend to me and a great resource and even though I never played for her, I always felt she was kind of one of my coaches.”
