IN NON VICTIMIZED AREAS!

There has been a lot of coverage regarding schools shootings as of late and it doesn’t seem like it will be fading away anytime soon.  April 20th is the next planned national school walk out over gun violence.  This date is significant because it marks the 19th anniversary of the Columbine shooting.

The students from Florida has our attention and has the country on it’s heels.  But in non victimized areas do the students really care?  It is common to hear people that go through this type of tragedy all so, “I didn’t think this would ever happen to us”.  Then it happens and our sons, daughters, friends and classmates are gone.

Here locally, people have said that students only walk out to avoid class.  Many joke and poke fun.  Simply put, they just don’t care.  Because if they did, they would be doing more to support this cause.

What do you think?  Please leave your comments below and if we are wrong about this, tell us what you are doing for the cause.

This article is unfortunately all too true, while I believe we should all care for our fellow human beings, the sad truth of the matter is we don’t unless they are directly connected to us. The March for our Lives movement held in Washington D.C. is a prime example where you can get some hard data about who is actually protesting. According to a survey taken at March for Our Lives the average age for someone attending the rally was 49 years old the survey rated that over 50 percent of attendees over 50 years old. The next 35 percent was people between the ages of 18 and 50 and the last 15 was actual teens. Also the large support behind MfoL was backed by major Hollywood stars and major corporation teens weren’t supporting this teen’s couldn’t even be bothered to get off the couch and do anything. Now obviously this is a generalized statement I acknowledge that there are some people actually wanting to fight this violence and I applaud those few but for everyone who says they care from their living room couches well just stop saying you care and just say you feel sorry cause that’s the truth.

It’s just one of those things, out of sight out of mind. If it’s not happening close to me I don’t care about it.

It’s a sad thing that is happening now in the world but it happens so much now a days that we kind of expect it or get use to it. It’s sad but that’s why I think most students don’t care.

I think this is sad. Just because it didn’t effect you or have a major impact on your life does not mean we should not care about it.

Why don’t the children care about school shootings as much in Wichita?
Why don’t we take this seriously
    -Political matters
    -Violence
Because it’s never happened here and considering they’ve never experienced such things to the degree that it is displayed in other countries, there’s not much a feeling to care for such matters.
They’re also isn’t much positivity displayed on social media and different media outlets so children just see all of the negative and violent actions and they become exposed to that at such a young age.
They’re are also different factors involving parents not being a positive influence on children and they don’t discipline the child on what is right and what is wrong.
It starts to seem as if it’s normal to a child when they just see all the violence that has broken out into the world, and what makes it worse is they only look at what we do as adults from their own perspective and they have their personal thought towards it.
Another big factor would be some children/teenagers just flat out really don’t care because one they might actually take part in some of these violent actions and two being the fact that their just ignorant selfish rebellious teenagers that just don’t care about world issues that is ironically involving them and their safety.
Now don’t take me wrong, there are definitely some teenagers

It needs to be the ones who have not been victimized by these horrific events to really speak out and take action. We all need to be aware and charged up about this. How important it is to unite as one on this matter and speak out for the safety of young people.

This article makes a lot of sense, because it talks about things people don’t really notice or want to focus on when it comes to the crisis at hand. A lot kids, especially in highschool, use these walkouts as an opportunity to just get out of classes or even school as a whole for that matter. Some of them don’t even have a clue as to what’s going and nor do they care to know. A lot of teenagers are just sympathetic of a crisis , but don’t really feel affected unless they are personally involved in some way.
