Some girls plan all year for this.  Some, their whole lives.  Prom!  It’s a big deal, from the way you are asked to the way you arrive.  But nothing is more important than what you wear.  Girls can search all year for that perfect dress and spend hundreds of dollars just to see someone in the same attire.  Then there is Skyler Branch who wore a custom dress that has the news and fashion world buzzing!

Skyler wanted to so something different for prom as well as make a statement.  Her custom dress featured strong black women including women in her family such as her mom and grandmother.  Also, featured on her dress were Michelle Obama, Halle Berry, Oprah Winfrey and many more.  Skyler stated that she wanted to take these women to prom with her.  The senior of White Station in Memphis Tennessee explained that these women made a positive impact  on her.

Not that her family and famous actresses are not impressive enough, she also featured Dr. Alfreda J. Webb a pioneer in veterinary medicine; something that Skyler hopes to pursue after high school.

Skyler went to prom without a date but she clearly was not alone!  She was inspired by a young lady from Florida that had a picture of Trayvon Martin on her prom dress last year.

The designer of the dress is Shannon LaShay Pierce.  “It meant something to her so it meant something to me,” Pierce stated to a reporter.  It appears that Pierce has a long list of unique designs and is highly sought after during prom season.

For unique style and creativity Skyler Branch is TEENVIEW Magazine’s official winner of Prom 2018!
