Clothes for Cash

By July 5, 20143 Comments

Its officially summer!

I began cleaning out my closet and dresser drawers, realizing I don’t wear half the clothes I own. I  also noticed that some of the clothes I wear are name brands. Usually I give away old clothes/clothes I don’t wear to Goodwill. But these clothes are in great condition. I’ve never been a fan of those resale stores where they buy your clothes due to a bad incident, but I had a change of heart and decided to give it a try again.

I took a big tub of my gently used high heels, dresses, shorts, and shirts to Plato’s Closet. If you aren’t familiar with the way they run the store I will explain.

You bring in your clothes and fill out a small  paper asking a few questions and show your ID. Then you are given an estimated wait time. You are required to stay in the store until they are done looking through your clothes. When they are finished they will call your name and proceed to explain briefly why they didn’t buy the items they are giving back to you. They usually give you a hint on what’s in style right now and what’s buying. Then they add up how much cash they will give you for the items they were interested in. Its a pretty easy process.

The best part is getting paid cash for clothes you don’t even like anymore! And I will prove to you this works. I went twice in one week with the same tub filled with different items both times and I received a total of $80.00. That’s the most I’ve ever received from selling my clothes to any of these stores around town.

I was really timid about this idea, but I really think you guys should try it! Come on, its extra cash!

This isn’t just for girls either. Guys they will buy your gently used clothes, too!

My favorite part about Plato’s closet is that they buy all seasons at any time.

Go clean out your closets and keep this in mind:

What’s hot right now is;

Maxi dresses, work out clothes, and light washed jeans/shorts.

But remember what I said, they buy all seasons at any time so don’t be hesitant to try anything you think might sell!

Good luck, and hopefully these tips will help you get a little extra cash this summer.

Comment and share what you took in and they bought, I’d love to hear about it.

      I’m going to say guys can sell the same type of clothes as girls. Such as name brand shirts, shorts, pants, jeans, shoes, etc. They have a pretty good selection of guys clothes, too!
