Pixar’s first family of SuperHeroes are back after being gone for 14 years! Find out how this movie holds up.

It’s been 14 years since the first Incredibles released and a lot has changed in the real world but the story of this Super family has not. In many ways this sequel surpasses the original. The power of Family is front in center in this story that has heart. The action is there with many laughs, Incredibles 2 is an all around good family movie.

Director Brad Bird brings the original cast from the first film back together, except for the orignal voice of Dash, since 14 years takes a toll on a kid’s voice as they grow up. Each actor and actresses brings the same energy to each character as if they were just as excited making the film as we are seeing it.

Incredibles 2 literally takes place right where the first movie left off, opening with a thrilling battle against The Underminer. But even defeating super villains don’t change the fact that superheroes are still banned in this world and are forced into hiding. So after the heroics are over the Parr family are back facing normal life trying to make ends meet. This time without their home to go to after it was destroyed in the first film.

Family is the main focus of the film but Pixar manages to address the theme of gender roles as well. With Helen/Elastigirl going off to becoming the major bread-winner in this story. Bob/Mr. Incredible is reluctant to stay behind with the family while his wife does all the action; don’t worry though the whole family acts as a team from start to finish in this film. The storyline of Bob being the family man at home taking care of the kids is a funny yet heartwarming part of the film aswell. This film really focuses on parenting in a working-class family, with extra superhero themes on the side.

Incredibles 2 still retains the stylized charm from the original movie back in 2004. With animation improving over the last 14 years, visual details like hair and explosions look crisper, with more vibrant colors, yet our main characters sill look the same as they did when we first met them.

With Brad Bird’s strong script and direction brings this new adventure to new heights. Instead of trying to copy or parody the superhero films of the past 14 years, Incredibles 2 reminds us what made the first film work so well with the power of family
