College World Series Team Introductions (Auburn Mississippi State and Arkansas)

By June 14, 2019February 27th, 2024No Comments

Today and tomorrow we are gonna be covering all of the SEC schools heading to Omaha this year. This year was an amazing year for the SEC having a total of 9 teams enter the tournament.

6 of these teams hosted Regional and half of all Super Regional were hosted by SEC schools. Now only 4 remain. In a conference known for football they are proving that they are dominant in all of the major market sports. The SEC is looking at having the best odds of any conference remaining. (We are doing 3 teams today because Vanderbilt has a very long and emotional story that requires more space)

Auburn came out of the gate on fire absolutely destroying the first inning by scoring 13 runs in the first inning of the game. North Carolina was never able to get on track to come back from that abysmal show of defense and pitching that they showed in the first inning. Auburn will be playing Mississippi State in their first game of the tournament Sunday June 16th 7:30 pm.

Mississippi State the lowest #1 seed out of the SEC and first #1 seed to make it breezed through their regional and super regional series taking down Southern U. Central Michigan, and Miami in their regional and sweeping another #1 seeded team, Stanford, at their home. Mississippi State hasn’t had it easy on their way to the CWS but they are definitely where they are supposed to be no one really expected any less from them and expect even more from them going forward into this weekend. Mississippi State will play Auburn in their game of the tournament Sunday June 16th 7:30 pm.

The third team from the SEC on this list heading to Omaha is Arkansas. Arkansas had a great year in a conference that had 9 teams in the tournament and 4 of them being CWS bound. The SEC was super dominant this year and it is shown in Omaha. Arkansas had to eliminate a rival school in their Super Regional series. Ole Miss and Arkansas played a grand total of 7 times throughout the course of this season and Arkansas and split the season series but was able to win when it mattered. These two teams even met on the road to the SEC tournament championship in the semi-finals and Ole Miss was able to eliminate them on their way to a runner-up honor. Arkansas was ranked in the top 5 in pre tournament rankings and ended up being one of the top seeds in the entire tournament. They will face Florida State in their first game of their journey to win the Championship. Arkansas will face Florida State in their first game of the tournament Saturday June 15th at 7 pm.
