What?! You don’t mean that all girls like pink?! IM SHOOKITH TO THE CORE! Today I will be discussing gender stereotypes for men and women also at the end we will see what my fellow students believe. Let’s talk about that.
Boys
I talked with my peer Damir Autry who said about male stereotypes, “ I feel like the color blue is commonly associated with men and it’s not okay! Just let colors be colors it doesn’t matter!”. One of the most common things that I see about men is that they can’t show emotion without being called gay. If a man is crying or shows any bit of emotion they would say things like, “ You are weak, man up!” or, “ Quit acting like a girl! Boys don’t cry.”. These things in my opinion are complete and utter crap. Men CAN show emotion and be who they want to be and like pink for pete’s sake!
Girls
Emotional, Narcissistic, Selfish, Obsessed with beauty. Girls are commonly associated as being too emotional and weak. I talked with Au’Jaugh’Nae Dean about girl stereotypes. “ Men commonly perceive us (women) as housewives. They don’t think we should get jobs and just take care of the kids. I feel like it’s terrible! Women are just as capable if not more capable than men at many things!”. Often they also have issues with their bodies and are said to be superficial. In 2015 Ariana Grande did an interview with Power 106 Los Angeles. The interviewers asked her to choose between using makeup or her phone one last time. She quickly shut them down saying, “ Is this what girls have trouble choosing between?”. Her interviewers then asked how many hours she can go without using her phone which she replied with, “ Many MANY hours!”. Then they started saying, “ Girls Learn!” but Ariana quickly said, “ Boys learn…We can all learn equally!”. Preach Ariana, Preach!
Why does society keep messing up? We ALL need to better and learn not to judge others! We all are different and don’t need to abide by gender stereotypes anymore! IT’S 2019 let’s all do a lot better! Remember Stay safe, Stay you, Stay Happy! Bye! Bye!
