So, while I was filming “This Week in Sports” over the NBA Mount Rushmore for the Guy Code episode of TeenView TV, I realized that I’ve been unjust to some of the greatest players of all time, so I’m here to go more in depth on the subject!

My NBA Mount Rushmore consists of Michael Jordan, Wilt Chamberlain, Kareem Abdul-Jabaar, and Earvin “Magic” Johnson. I’ll explain why they’re on my Rushmore in a bit. Before that I’d like to show what you guys in the TeenView Community thought.

Cam Johnson, a member of TeenView Club Life Prep, said that Michael Jordan, LeBron James, Wilt Chamberlain, and Kobe Bryant are atop his Mount Rushmore. Whereas CEO of TeenView Magazine, Marquis Murphy, said that Bill Russell, Magic Johnson, Kareem Abdul-Jabaar, and Michael Jordan are his four greatest of all-time. All-in-all, “His Airness”, Michael Jordan got a whopping ninety-two percent of the votes, with LeBron James coming in second at 77%! To see the full poll check out the Guy Code episode of TeenView TV airing on July 3rd!

Now that we have all that cleared up, I’d like to talk about why I chose the four players I did end up choosing for Mount Rushmore. I chose these four players for their diverse impact on and off of the court.

Michael Jordan (30.1 ppg, 6.2 rpg, 5.3 apg, 6 NBA Championships): With Jordan, it’s very simple. He’s the greatest of all time. He never lost an NBA Finals, he never let an NBA Finals get to a full seven games, and he made every kid want to grow up to be “like Mike”.

Wilt Chamberlain (30.1 ppg, 22.9 rpg, 4.4 apg, 2 NBA Championships): You read that right, Wilt averaged 22.9 rebounds a game. Not in a single season, but in his entire career. His athleticism is what put him on this list. When watching some old game film of him, I discovered he could be behind the backboard and with a single vertical jump, he could outstretch his arm to where he could dunk the ball. He could dunk the ball from under the backboard. He was one of, if not the, greatest big men/man of all time.

Kareem Abdul-Jabaar (24.6 ppg, 11.2 rpg, 3.6 apg, 6 NBA Championships): Kareem made my list because he had the most unstoppable move in NBA history: the sky-hook. A variation of the hook shot, the sky-hook has only been perfected by Abdul-Jabaar. When he got the ball on the block, people knew he was gonna score it. He also was a part of the great “Showtime LA Lakers”.

Magic Johnson (19.5 ppg, 7.2 rpg, 11.2 apg, 5 NBA Championships): Magic was the definition of “Showtime” and he personified that throughout his entire career. Watching him was magical, no pun intended. Also his rivalry with Larry Bird was probably the best in NBA history. Overall, Magic was the greatest point guard ever, and that’s what put him on this list.

Hopefully, this will clear some things up about my NBA Mount Rushmore. Thanks to everyone who participated in the Facebook poll! If you have anything to say about this list please comment below or tweet us @teenviewmag using the hashtag #tvmsports.
