Pop Up Urban Park

By October 10, 2015No Comments

Wichita has created a new attraction in the least likely of places.

At 121 E. Douglas there used to be a large hole in the ground for construction. Thanks to a grant and a few developers that hole has since been filled and put to better use.

The new site is called the Pop Up Urban Park and it had its grand opening on the 25th of September. Its not much but its a really good fix to the hole in the ground.

The site is now home to scheduled food trucks through out the week and live performances. If you aren’t hungry and miss the performances you can still stop by and have a seat or go play on the concrete ping pong table.

Kristy Williams says that she just drove by on the way to a movie and stopped by to get a bite to get a bite to eat.

” I think the park is great, interesting, colorful… repurposed…” said Williams.

The she hopes for a continuous variety of food at this location.

Shey West and Rochelle Collins own a food truck called Kind Kravings and they love the site. They say the atmosphere is great and that it was a cool thing to do with the area.
