The North Wins Again

It was April 9, 1865 when General Edmund Kirby Smith signed the surrender terms offered by the Union Negotiators.    Over 150 years ago and we have been a divided nation.  Many southern states waving a confederate flag that denotes their defiance of being apart of the union.  A flag that represents oppression and slavery. A symbol of the worst time in our nation.  A symbol of over 150 years, and there are still people that held on to that idea and called it heritage.

Yet, today South Carolina has removed the flag from it’s State Capital building.  What irony, because it was South Carolina that shot the first shot to begin the war.  Now they have shot what I believe to be the first shot to end racism!

But where do we go from here?  It is critical that we take this opportunity to move the conversation toward racial healing.  We need to fight racism where ever it shows its ugly head, united as a nation with liberty and justice for all!

So what will you do to move equality forward?
