12 Teraflops, 120fps, raytracing, backwards compatibility just to name a few.

The head of Xbox, Phil Spencer has released the technical specs for the new Xbox Series X home gaming system releasing this holiday season. The news goes into great detail on several major themes that Microsoft is trying to achieve with the next generation of home gaming.

More power and faster performance will play a major element for the Xbox Series X, The Series X will have a custom AMD processor, capable of 12 teraflops of GPU performance, which Spencer says will result in higher framerates and larger worlds. With that will also come to a  variable rate shading support will allow developers to prioritize how effects are applied to their games, this will bring “more stable frame rates and higher resolution, with no impact on the final image quality.” Phil Spencer also says that raytracing will be provided by DirectX and will be a first for consoles.

The Xbox Series X console will come with a  solid state drive that should improve load times. The console will also have a Quick Resume feature that allows you to re-enter suspended games with almost no wait times. With improved latency, the console will support up to 120 frames per second.

The console will come with 12 teraflops, which is double that of the already powerful Xbox One X, and will be currently the most teraflops in any home console. Unless the PS5 has more teraflops, Microsoft’s system will be the most powerful system available in 2020.

Sony still has not released any major news on the PS5 all we know right now is rumors, nothing confirmed. With this information from Microsoft the only real question us consumers want to know is…how much will this thing cost?
